CHAPTER COORDINATOR’S MESSAGE
We are closing the door to a year that I think each of us will aways remember, one that has presented numerous challenges and many moments to reflect on this beautiful area that we call home and the generous folks that stepped up to help those in need. I think that we are all trying to adjust to a new normal while continuing to pray for all those that lost so much. Our blanketeers have continued to turn out beautiful blankets as have so many Project Linus chapters all over the country as they shipped hundreds of donations to be given out. To date we have passed out just over 1,700 blanket hugs. We will continue to do this, and I hope that when you find a child or a facility that could use that extra hug you will let me know.
Some of the recipients of the donations have been:
Beloved Asheville Mennonite Disaster Relief in Fairview
Hillside Community Center (Weaverville) Living Waters in Cherokee
Madison County Schools Several fire stations in Fairview
Asheville City Schools (see picture below) Two Hispanic groups on Henderson County
Swannanoa Valley toy give away Alan Campos Trailer Park (Swannanoa)
A quilt group in Chimney Rock who gave them out in that area
RUMMAGE SALE
Mother Nature forced us to cancel our scheduled rummage sale set for October, but I hope that you will continue to collect all those unwanted items as we are working on a rescheduled date sometime in the spring, hopefully in March or April. As soon as we have a definite date you will receive an email.
Remember no clothing, electronics or heavy items and all need to be reasonably priced. If you have a question reach out to our rummage sale chairlady, Romella at 828-29-6197.

THANK YOU NOTES
These blankets were requested for the preschoolers who were unable to go back to school with the regular classes as the lack of water presented a problem for this age. The teachers wanted each child to have their own blanket “hug” when they returned, Enjoy the thank you notes that we received from them.
“Project Linus Team! Thank you so much for the blanket donation for our Pre-K children. They were all excited to pick out a blanket they could take home. We appreciate your support. – Susanna Smith”

To the Loving Soul that made a quilt just for our little girl. The beautiful quilt went to a young lady named Emily, who is nine, she sleeps with it every night, takes it on vacation and loves snuggling up for movie time. Ms. Emily has been through a lot and having something homemade with love gives her a feeling of what home really is. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the time, money, and love that went into making the blanket.
With love.
HIGH COUNTRY QUILT GUILD
In November I had the honor of speaking to the High-Country Guild in Waynesville to tell them about Project Linus. After their meeting and my talk, they took on the “joy” of making fleece blankets. Along with the fleece blankets and the many quilts that they donated, I came home with close to 40 blankets. Thanks to Sandra Bell for making this possible.
CHANGES IN BLANKET DROP OFF SITES
Five Little Monkeys in Weaverville:
Changes are taking place at this quilt shop in Weaverville, they will no longer have a brick store and will be selling online. However, they still wish to be one of our drop-off sites. Donations can be left outside the upstairs door; you will enter on the side where the salon is.
Sheridan Kay Quilting in Hendersonville:
Sheridan Kay Quilting is now Purple Bobbin and will gladly accept your donations.
