The HISTORY OF OUR LOCAL CHAPTER PROJECT LINUS OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA

......began in 1998 with Barbara Bernhart as the chapter coordinator. Ellen Knoefel took over as chapter coordinator in 2004. Project Linus of Western North Carolina now covers Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, Mitchell, Transylvania, and Yancey Counties.

WHERE DO OUR BLANKETS GO? When a blanket is donated to Project Linus, we try to use that blanket in the donor area. Occasionally, as supply and demand fluctuate, there is a need to share within the chapter. From time to time, when there is a national crisis such as 9-11 or the fires in California, the National office will request that each chapter donate blankets to fill the immediate need in the crisis area. Locally, our blankets go to: Hospitals Sheriff's Departments Domestic Violence, Shelters, Guardian ad Litem Program of the NC 30th Judicial District Fire and Rescue Squads, and Individual Children as their needs are identified.
