ABOUT

Project Linus is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization with a two-fold mission.

FIRST It is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeer".

SECOND it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children

Project Linus began in December 1995 after Karen Loucks, of Denver Colorado, was inspired to make blankets for her local children's cancer center. Since then, Project Linus has expanded to include children who are seriously ill or traumatized in many ways.

Our Western North Carolina Chapter began in 1998 and covered Buncombe, Henderson, and Transylvania counties. Since that time we have grown to include an additional nine counties. We have surpassed 78,000 donated blankets given to a child.

As of December 31, 2020, that number is 78,993!
